The application can also be filled out and printed. If you fill out the
application and print it, please deliver it to Station 45 Monday-Friday 9:00 AM
to 5:00 PM in a sealed envelope with New Member Application addressed to the
attention of CCVFD Board of Directors'. During the next scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors' after your
application is submitted it will be reviewed and decided upon contingent on your
criminal background check.
Some general guidelines to remember about this line of work:
1. It is inherently dangerous and the risk of SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH is a
possibility.
2. It is physically strenuous work.
3. It may require you to be away from your family for extended periods of time.
(while on calls and training)
4. You MUST attend training on a regular basis set forth by the Department
guidelines.
The progressive steps to becoming a member in good standing with full
privileges:
Jr. Firefighter- This is a person 16-18 years of age who expresses an interest
in learning about the Fire Service. This person must be granted permission by
their parents and school principal to join. During this time the person is
working towards their Firefighter Level 2 certification and any other related
certifications that they would like to obtain to gain valuable knowledge of the
fire service. While on calls this person will assist with simple tasks given to
them by persons in charge and other firefighters as necessary. THIS PERSON WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO ANY INTERIOR FIREFIGHTING OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY TASK THAT
WILL PUT THEM AT GREAT RISK OF INJURY.
Probationary Firefighter- This person is 19 years of age or older and is
currently in their first year of service in the Fire Department. The person will
required to attend classes to obtain their Firefighter Level 2 certification
during this time along with answering alarms and assisting other firefighters
while on a call as set forth by the Department guidelines. THIS PERSON WILL NOT
BE ALLOWED TO DO ANY INTERIOR FIREFIGHTING OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY TASK THAT WILL
PUT THEM AT GREAT RISK OF INJURY UNTIL PROPERLY TRAINED AND APPROVED BY THE
CHIEF AND TRAINING OFFICER OF THE DEPARTMENT.
Firefighter-This is a person who has satisfactorily completed the probationary
period as set forth in the department guidelines and completed all requirements
of becoming a State certified Firefighter or who is actively attending classes
to obtain the hours necessary to become certified. This person once certified
will be required to maintain their certifications by attending enough continuing
education classes offered through various entities in the surrounding area and
through the training division of the department. The number of hours required
annually is set forth in the department guidelines by the department training
division. This person at a minimum will be required to meet the annual
requirements to maintain NFPA 1403 and Haz-Mat Operations Level certifications.
IF PROPERLY TRAINED THIS PERSON MAY ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN ANY TASK UNDER THE
DIRECTION OF THE PERSON IN CHARGE AT THE TIME.
